Three more Golden Rock residents sign deeds to their homes

Three more Golden Rock residents signed deeds of transfer before a notary on Friday, 9 October 2026. The first resident to finish the process did so on 2 October. Acting Island Governor Sharon Hassell signed on behalf of the Government of Statia. Island Commissioner Reuben Merkman, who holds the housing portfolio, was there to congratulate the new homeowners in person. More signings are expected in the coming week as the government works through eligible tenants.
The residents now own homes they have lived in, after an initiative the Island Council first endorsed in 2015 and that legal and administrative challenges then held up for years.
