World's oldest living person Ethel Caterham turns 117

Ethel Caterham celebrated her 117th birthday on Friday. Born in the United Kingdom on August 21, 1909, she has held the Guinness World Records title for oldest living person since last year. She met King Charles III last September and told him she remembered watching his investiture as Prince of Wales in 1969, according to the BBC. Caterham was born when Charles' great-great grandfather, Edward VII, was king. She received the title after Brazilian nun Inah Canabarro Lucas died at the age of 116. Guinness World Records also recognizes her as the world's oldest living woman.
Caterham's longevity demonstrates that people can remain active and experience new things well past 100.
